"WHAT WE PLAY IS LIFE"
- Louis Armstrong
Club 86 tells the story of a supper club that attracted some of the biggest names in music to the small town of Geneva, New York in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The film features firsthand accounts from local residents, music by Emmy-Award winning composer Kevin McDaniels, and a special performance by world-renowned jazz and soul singer Robin McKelle of an original song which McKelle wrote in honor of the club. Written, directed, and produced by filmmaker Jim Augustine, Club 86 explores a small town’s illustrious past against the backdrop of a troubled present, reminding us of the power of live performance in bringing communities together.
